In life and death, Jim Rohn is and remains a true inspiration.  If you have never read THE book about the marriage of business and personal life: “7 Strategies For Wealth & Happiness”, I urge you, nay, implore you, to go out and buy a copy today…it may, and probably will change your life forever.

Amongst the many pearls of wisdom, I love the simplicity of the idea Jim has which inspires the Scales of Finance.  If you are not earning, you are spending and if your in-come is not exceeding your out-goings, you’re up-keep will be your down-fall.

This simple proposal inspires so many truisms, but the way I like to think of it best is in an overall business context…put simply, if your business isn’t growing, your business is dying – Darwin’s survival of the fittest principle for companies.

So many business owners I talk to will use phrases like “business is at a good, steady level which is the way we like it” or “we are all as busy as we want to be, so we don’t want to grow any more”.

And here is the thing…as we come out of Covid and the world opens up and people begin to spend again, you might have that very thought. And you might  be one of the thousands of business owners who takes that thought even further. You might be looking at your business performance and patting yourself on the back about the fantastic job you are doing – order book full, performance up by 60% on the same time last year…amazing!

But after you’ve toasted your success, please do me a small favour and make sure you check that against two key areas:

  1. How am I doing against my pre-pandemic numbers? Still looking healthy, or do you have some way to go even to get back to where business was in 2019?
  2. How is all of this new business you’re generating (which in reality may just be some, but not all of your old customers coming back) tracking to the bottom line – particularly if your business model has changed or you’ve had to hire new staff. Are your systems and team all geared to helping you achieve your profit goals?

If you’re all over both of those questions, great, sleep happy in your bed!

If not, and as society, technology, the environment and so many other factors change at an unprecedented rate, be careful about letting this type of complacency creep in – in the modern age, more so than ever it will kill your business.

At ActionCOACH we work with you on ALL aspects of your business performance to ensure that weathering the pandemic of complacency will never be a risk for your business.  Find out more about how we will GUARANTEE to do this by signing up for a complimentary business coaching session today.
